The UK innovator of vertical farming technology aims to galvanise the industry into action to reap the exciting potential of agritech.

The Fresh Produce Consortium (FPC) – the UK’s fresh produce trade association – is thrilled to announce that vertical farming innovator GrowPura is an official headline sponsor of FPC Future 2023; the ground-breaking event that will unravel the future of agri-tech for the agricultural and horticultural industries.
FPC’s specialised agri-tech event returns on 16 March 2023 at the East Of England Arena and Events Centre in Peterborough, the UK. It takes place alongside FPC Careers 2023 to provide exhibitors with a unique opportunity to gain a vital insight in the future of agri-tech, as well as to secure the next generation of talent that will drive forward the fresh produce and flower industries.

FPC's CEO, Nigel Jenney, comments: “As an innovator of cutting-edge technology here in the UK, GrowPura is well placed to serve as an ambassador for our industry in the role of one of our headline sponsors of FPC Future 2023.
“Vertical farming is one of the very innovations that the produce industry needs to explore and adopt in order to safeguard the future of our food supply. GrowPura has developed the next generation technology for vertical farming, and is continuing to develop in terms of improving its sustainable credentials, and its application across a wider range of crops, from leafy greens through to flowers, for a multitude of sectors.”
A market-leader and specialist in hydroponics, GrowPura operates a purpose-built research and development facility in Bedford. In addition to enhancing its offering and capabilities, the centre gives potential customers the opportunity for their own bespoke vertical farming trials to achieve their target yield and return on investment (ROI).
GrowPura’s executive chairman, Nick Bateman, points out: “Agritech is very important and intrinsic to resolving many of the worldwide issues faced when growing crops and flowers. Traditional farming has too many uncontrollable variables, such as climate change and the inconsistent growing conditions caused by floods or drought. Water issues are affecting all outdoor growing capabilities, including the quality of the end product. This unreliability is impacting the retail market, and agritech is one way to combat these changes in a productive and economically attractive way.”

As a headline sponsor of FPC Future 2023, GrowPura plans to meet agri-tech influencers and commercial businesses wanting to grow produce via vertical farming, and, secondly, to target businesses who would potentially license GrowPura’s technology.
Bateman reveals: “FPC Future is a platform to meet future employees and business owners. It is our opportunity to educate and inform about the buoyant future of agriculture that answers many of the world’s food and land use problems too. Our objective is to open even more doors for GrowPura; allowing us to meet customers and prospective employees; whilst also hearing from others about their approach to technology and the solutions they are bringing to the table in all areas of the farming process.”
GrowPura’s team of experts will exhibit at FPC Future 2023, while Executive Chairman Nick Bateman will join the conference programme. Bateman will talk about how vertical farming can be sustainable, profitable and result in superior quality crops; with the aim of inspiring the audience to make positive action.
Bateman remarks: “We want to start and steer conversations to benefit everyone in the agri-tech arena. We have insightful information based on tangible results to share and to allow others to benefit. The future is exciting, and we feel buoyant about the difference GrowPura is already making and will continue to make.”
The inaugural co-located FPC Future and FPC Careers attracted over 850 visitors in one day. The event was well received by the industry, with almost 90 per cent of attendees planning to attend again in 2023.
