The Berry Gardens Packhouse Team won Team of the Year for smashing its targets to achieve a record year in 2021 with more units packed than ever before, plus a record day for production and profitability at its highest level.

Kent & Medway Horticultural Employment Task Force won the HR Initiative of the Year after combining Human Resources (HR) with education to drive change in the challenge of recruiting seasonal and permanent labour in the region.

Karsten UK won Best Place to Work for going the extra mile to develop bespoke in-house staff training programmes, as well as for its inclusive culture which encourages long-serving employees and the return of temporary labour workers each season.

Nigel Jenney, CEO of FPC, explains: “The fresh produce industry is well-known for its friendly and family-like culture, and the five winners of our personnel and HR awards absolutely live up to that ethos. These individuals and teams possess collaborative spirits and can-do attitudes; contributing significant value to their businesses and enterprises. They are an example to us all.”

Celebrating Success

The FPC Fresh Awards celebrate the outstanding achievements of fresh produce and floral businesses as well as those individuals involved in trading with the UK market; from the best growers and suppliers to the finest service providers, exceptional marketers and distinguished personnel from across the globe.

This year’s edition took place at The JW Marriott Grosvenor House, an historic 5-star hotel on Park Lane in London on 16 September 2022. Around 600 guests attended the unmissable date in the produce industry’s calendar.

The event was hosted by Reverend Richard Coles, and featured an inaugural Supplier Showcase networking drinks reception, in addition to the event’s traditional black-tie dinner.
