In a significant move for the British potato industry, GB Potatoes has proudly announced the appointment of Scott Walker as their new part-time CEO. With a sterling 25-year tenure as the Chief Executive of NFU Scotland under his belt, Walker brings a treasure trove of experience to the table, poised to steer GB Potatoes towards a flourishing future.

Starting his new role on Monday, 2nd October, Walker's appointment has been met with enthusiasm from the GB Potatoes Board. They eagerly anticipate the synergy of Walker's expertise in shaping the organisation's strategic direction and enhancing its daily operations, all to the benefit of its members and the broader industry.
Walker's new role dovetails perfectly with his ongoing responsibilities at the Scottish Association of Meat Wholesalers. There, he spearheads their interactions with government entities, supply chain stakeholders, food industry leaders, and oversees the Association's operations.
Expressing his excitement, Walker remarked, "Joining GB Potatoes is a thrilling new chapter for me. The organisation has made impressive strides in its inaugural year, and I'm keen to amplify its achievements. The potato sector deserves a robust, distinct voice, and I'm committed to ensuring it resonates loud and clear."
He further emphasised the importance of collaboration, stating, "GB Potatoes stands as a beacon for the supply chain to unite, addressing the myriad challenges the industry faces. Our mission is clear: to safeguard the future of GB potato production. I urge all industry stakeholders to join us in this endeavour."
Mark Taylor, GBP Chair, echoed these sentiments, saying, "As we embark on our second year, having a seasoned professional like Scott on our team is a game-changer. We're set for a promising 2024, building on the solid foundation we've established."
