Growing convenience in northeast England

Rochdale welcomed a new family-owned SPAR store at Mayfield Parade. This is the sixth store in the Greater Manchester and Cheshire SPAR area owned by the Uppal family.

The newest store is located in a repurposed vacant unit and its opening has created 15 local jobs. Customers are offered a wide range of products at competitive prices, including a coffee option, hot food-to-go counter, extended grocery and fresh convenience items.

In Wigan, independent retailer Lawrence Hunt & Co. Ltd invested £250,000 in renovating its SPAR Whelley store. The refurbishment has integrated energy-efficient refrigeration and air conditioning while investment includes a new flooring, lower-level shelving, an automatic sliding door, and improved accessibility through a ramp.

The retail group operates 22 SPAR stores in the North West of England, benefiting from expertise and service from regional SPAR wholesaler James Hall & Co. Ltd.

EUROSPAR convenience in Northern Ireland

Henderson Retail expanded with a new EUROSPAR Supermarket on Donaghadee Road in Newtownards, which includes a Maxol branded forecourt. The expansion is part of SPAR Northern Ireland’s strategy to grow the EUROSPAR format.

The store offers more space, energy-efficient refrigeration, and over 2,000 additional products, including local and fresh items.

EUROSPAR Supermarket in Lurgan was also relaunched after a recent renovation, creating six new jobs. The renovated EUROSPAR Supermarket introduced an expanded offering for customers, including a hot food-to-go counter, butchery, self-checkouts, and postal services.

Since 2014, EUROSPAR Supermarket in Lurgan has been actively involved in the local community. The team engages in litter cleanups, supports charitable organisations like St. Vincent de Paul and the Cancer Fund for Children (raising over £4,000), assists local groups and hosts information days for Lough Neagh Rescue.

Store relaunch in Scotland

SPAR Scotland’s Freuchie store celebrated its reopening with a launch party. The store, owned by regional wholesaler CJ Lang & Son Ltd, hosted a community-focused event with giveaways, special offers, and product samples. The SPAR Supermarket in Freuchie showed its commitment to local communities with donations made to local groups.

The store’s renovation included energy-efficient upgrades, additional shelving, fresh graphics, and a new food-to-go area. The supermarket offers a variety of products and services, including an off-license section, fresh produce, news, grocery items, and more.
