Storm Ciarán set to bring intense winds and heavy rain to the UK - Weather Bureau issues alerts

The Weather Bureau has released multiple cautionary alerts throughout the UK in anticipation of Storm Ciarán, which is predicted to bring 70mph winds and heavy rain tomorrow.

Amber warnings are in place for the entire south coast of England and parts of Pembrokeshire where Storm Ciaran is due to hit tomorrow, together with several further yellow rain warnings.


Both South Wales and the South West are set to receive an amber alert warning from 6pm to midnight, predicting significant disturbances.


A heightened alert will be in effect for the South West and South Coast on Thursday, warning of strong winds and rain that could be life-threatening.


"Heightened weather alerts in place. Intense winds linked to Storm Ciarán may cause travel issues. Large waves could also affect coastal regions," stated the Weather Bureau.


Wind speeds of up to 80mph are forecasted for certain southern English coastal regions, and some places might receive as much as 60mm of rain.
