Supermarket picks 5.3 million Scottish strawberries to serve in time for Wimbledon

A supermarket has picked 5.3 million Scottish strawberries to serve in time for Wimbledon.

Asda has partnered with Stewarts of Tayside, a family-run business that is the largest independent strawberry grower in Scotland.


The strawberries will be available in over 240 Asda stores across the UK.


Asda's fresh produce director, Richard Lowe, said: "We are delighted to be working with Stewarts of Tayside to bring our customers the best Scottish strawberries in time for Wimbledon.


"We know that our customers love strawberries and we are committed to providing them with the highest quality produce."



Jake Halligan, Asda's Produce Buying Manager, added, “We’re gearing up for an exceptional summer of sport & strawberries!” This collaboration highlights the commitment to fresh, local produce, available in over 240 Asda stores and online.


Stewarts of Tayside's managing director, James Porter, said: "We are proud to be supplying Asda with our Scottish strawberries.


"We are passionate about growing the best strawberries in the world and we are confident that our customers will love them."


The strawberries will be available in Asda stores from the end of June.
