Triumphant Aldi announced as top supermarket for fresh produce at FPC Fresh Awards 2021

Aldi have been announced as Multiple Retailer of the Year for fresh produce at the prestigious 2021 FPC Fresh Awards.

The award, voted for by the public, saw Aldi once again scope the highly coveted prize.

Every year FPC carries out a poll from January to April among consumers and the industry.

The question asked was: “Which is the best major retailer in the UK for fruit and vegetables

Voters’ comments included:

  • “Good variety of fruit and vegetables at a great price”

  • “Aldi's veg are always fresh and worth every penny”

  • “The quality is on par with all other supermarkets, except it’s much cheaper”

  • “The staff have excellent knowledge of all their products”

Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Corporate Buying at Aldi, said: “Fresh, affordable fruit and veg takes a starring role at Aldi and many of our customers come to us because they can trust that not only will they be getting unbeatable prices, but products of the highest quality.”

Aldi announced plans last year to increase the amount it spends with British suppliers by a further £3.5 billion over the next five years as it continues to ensure the best quality for its customers.

Chief Executive of the FPC, Nigel Jenney, said of the winners: "Aldi are once again the public's supermarket of choice for fresh fruit and vegetables. We are proud to acknowledge and celebrate their success through what has been a challenging few years.
