Turkish Fruit and Veg Suppliers Forge UK Links

A delegation of Turkish fruit and vegetable suppliers arrived yesterday to meet potential UK buyers and visit wholesale markets in London, Birmingham, and Glasgow.



The Antalya Commodity Exchange from Turkey has sent their top-tier fresh produce supplier delegation to the UK with aims to build further connections with potential buyers and increase the export of high-quality Turkish produce to the UK.


Turkey, already a major exporter of fresh fruit and vegetables to Britain, seeks to enhance its reputation beyond its traditional exports of citrus and tomatoes.


The delegation, showcasing a wide range of Turkish produce, offered UK produce buyers a direct connection to explore potential import partnerships.


The group, arrived on Monday, 4 March, and now embark on a week-long tour of three major wholesale markets: London’s New Covent Garden Market, Birmingham Wholesale Market, and Glasgow Wholesale Market.


Additionally, the Antalya Commodity Exchange will host two meetings for prospective buyers at hotels in London and Birmingham. The London event takes place at The Tower Hotel on Tuesday, 5 March, from 11 am to 4 pm, while the Birmingham meetings are scheduled at Edgbaston Park Hotel on Thursday, 7 March, from 11 am to 4 pm.


Thirteen Turkish suppliers have participated, representing growers of a variety of crops including cucumbers, pomegranates, figs, cauliflower, watermelons, peppers, and avocados.
