Dr Barry Mulholland, an industry leader in the field of pre- and post-harvest crop
management, will be joining the team in the new year at Wootzano, a Sedgefield-based
company and home of the robotic system, Avarai .

With the company's strong growth predicted for 2022, Barry's knowledge will shed much needed light on the challenges that are often overlooked in the sector.
His experience with new technology usage and development will help fine-tune future system enhancements, resulting in a product that is tailored to the needs of pack houses.
Barry had this to say: “I am delighted to be joining Wootzano at this critical time for the industry. The Wootzano Avarai system is an essential tool for the fresh produce sector to move from a lack of staff to soft handling robotics that inspect and pack for retail.
"These robotic systems are affordable and go beyond human, which will improve the efficiency of an industry that has been hit hard by Covid, staff shortages and Brexit”.
Wootzano recently showcased their technology at the FPC Future event at Lincolnshire Showground on 4 November.
CEO and Founder, Dr Atif Syed enthusiastically stated: “We are pleased to get Barry on board. His expertise in pack houses will be instrumental to assist our existing customers and new customers coming on board to experience how Avarai can make a change in their pack-houses”.
