Congratulations to Aldi, winner for the Fresh Awards 2019 for CSR Excellence, sponsored by Greenyard.
Aldi’s dedicated Corporate Responsibility team has worked hard to reduce emissions and find ways to be kinder to the environment. It has introduced a range of initiatives to minimise its environmental impact, focusing on mining its carbon footprint, reducing the impact of refrigerants, reducing, reusing and recycling waste and phasing out plastic packaging.
Aldi is working towards having 1,200 UK stores in the UK by 2025, and is committed to developing the supply chain and corporate responsibility initiatives to drive change and improvements.
“The judges were impressed by Aldi’s level of commitment and range of initiatives which are really making a difference,” commented Nigel Jenney, Chief Executive of the Fresh Produce Consortium.
The Fresh Awards 2019 for CSR Excellence was presented by Greenyard at the gala evening, hosted by Graeme Swann, former English international cricketer at The Pavilion, The Tower of London on Thursday 6 June 2019.
