Borough Market introduce online shopping

November 4, 2019

Borough Market has announced that it will launch an online shopping service to your door.

Becoming the first food market in the UK to introduce online shopping, Borough Market have teamed up with Good Sixty to deliver to people who live close by.

The Bath-based company Good Sixty found that every pound spent with independent producers benefits your local community by 60% more than if spent in big supermarkets (hence the name Good Sixty).

This new system will mean that you can either pick up your groceries on your way home from the market hub, or if you happen to live or work within a 1.5 mile radius, the market’s zero emission electric cargo bikes will deliver straight to your house or office.

Working in a similar way to most big supermarket chains, all you have to do is pick what produce you would like before specifying your chosen method of delivery, then all you have to do is wait.

At the moment there are 29 stallholders taking part in the delivery project.  Whether you feel like ordering treats for the office, fresh local produce, cheese and charcuterie for the weekend, alcohol for your cellar or everything you would need for a weekly shop, the market will be able to supply it through their website.

With Borough Market having gone through many developments over the last year it is hoped that more stalls will join the initiative if it successful.

It is not yet known whether additional food stalls and restaurants in the area will be joining in with the project, but regulars at the market can rejoice in knowing they no longer have to trudge through the endless crowds and tourists to buy ingredients for dinner with the new online shopping service.
