The Isle of Man has entered a lockdown similar to the UK today. All passenger arrivals by boat will also be stopped.
After that, only emergency transportation and freight will be allowed to enter the Island.
All non-essential shops are being told to close and people on the island are being told to stay at home.
One of the exceptions covers the transfer of patients to the UK for urgent healthcare appointments.
The public are reassured that the Patient Transfer service will still be able to arrange transport for anyone authorised by DHSC to travel to or from the UK in connection with an urgent healthcare appointment.
The Isle of Man's Chief Minister, Howard Quayle said: "When I came into politics, it was to do the best for the people of Isle of Man. I never thought that I would have to make the decisions that we are currently having to make on a daily basis.
"But doing the right thing for our Island remains my commitment to you today."The Council of Ministers has listened to the clinical experts. We are united in our view that now is the time to take the next step to protect our Island."
