‘Aggers’ Takes The Crease As Host Of Fresh Awards 2026

The voice of English cricket will take centre stage at the Fresh Awards this year, as Jonathan ‘Aggers’ Agnew hosts the industry’s biggest night of celebration.

The celebrated broadcaster, former England cricketer and much-loved raconteur will lead proceedings at the glittering awards ceremony on Friday 25 September at Grosvenor House, Park Lane, London.

One of the most familiar voices in British sport, Agnew spent 34 summers as the BBC’s cricket correspondent from 1991, becoming synonymous with Test Match Special and earning a reputation for combining expert insight with warmth, wit and wonderfully effortless storytelling.

Affectionately known as ‘Aggers’ to millions of listeners, he has spent more than half a century around professional cricket, first as a player and later as an award-winning broadcaster. His achievements include Sony’s prestigious Broadcaster of the Year accolade, while he was awarded an MBE for services to broadcasting in 2017.

He is also an accomplished and hugely popular after-dinner speaker, regularly entertaining audiences on the theatre circuit with stories gathered from a lifetime at the heart of international sport. In 2026, he is touring his one-man show and appearing alongside fellow Test Match Special favourite Phil Tufnell for an evening of cricket and conversation.

Now, Aggers will bring that trademark charm, quick wit and assured delivery to the Fresh Awards, guiding guests through an evening dedicated to recognising outstanding achievement across the UK’s fresh produce, floral, supply chain and allied industries.

Staged in the spectacular surroundings of Grosvenor House on London’s Park Lane, the Fresh Awards are widely regarded as the Oscars of the fresh produce industry. The event brings together leading growers, retailers, wholesalers, suppliers, logistics specialists and innovators for a memorable night of recognition, networking and celebration.

With Aggers at the crease, guests can expect a host who knows precisely how to command a major occasion – while keeping the evening moving with humour, personality and perhaps the occasional tale from the commentary box.

The Fresh Awards 2026 promises glamour, celebration and some of the industry’s finest talent in the spotlight. For those hoping to be part of it, this is one fixture that should not be missed.
