The new store locations, which span the nation from Scotland to London, are expected to open their doors between Thursday 6 November and Friday 12 December.

The five-week opening schedule forms part of Aldi’s ambitious £650 million commitment for 2025 to invest in its nationwide portfolio through store openings and refurbishments.

Now the UK’s fourth-largest supermarket, Aldi already operates 1,060 stores, offering low prices and the best possible value alongside championing British suppliers.

The format strikes a chord with shoppers, with Aldi having recently won the coveted FPC Fresh Awards Multiple Fruit & Veg Retailer of the Year accolade at the 2025 edition of the annual event for the UK fresh produce and floral industries, which was held in London on 26 September.

During the next two years Aldi aims to open 80 stores as part of its record £1.6 billion investment plan to meet the UK’s growing demand for affordable groceries as more families look to balance household budgets.

Price comparisons by consumer group Which? have recognised Aldi as the UK’s cheapest grocery retailer for four consecutive years.

“At Aldi, we’re focused on making affordable, high-quality food accessible to as many people as possible – and opening new stores is at the heart of how we do that,” explained Jonathan Neale, Aldi UK Managing Director of National Real Estate.

“Launching 16 new stores in just over five weeks is a significant milestone for our business and a clear demonstration of the pace and ambition behind our growth plans. It means more communities will benefit from Aldi’s value and choice in the weeks ahead and beyond.”

Each of the 16 stores will create around 40 new jobs in addition to the 4,500 new seasonal and permanent jobs Aldi has announced over the Christmas season.
