Aldi has announced new, faster payment terms for small produce farmers and suppliers, as part of its commitment to supporting British businesses through challenging conditions.

The move follows a period of dry weather across the UK that has placed additional strain on growers. With a hotter-than-normal summer on the horizon, the initiative is designed to help smaller suppliers manage cash flow pressures.
Under the scheme, all fresh produce suppliers with a turnover under £5 million will be offered new, quicker payment terms for the remainder of 2025. The changes come into effect immediately, and eligible suppliers have been invited to apply.
Julie Ashfield, chief commercial officer at Aldi UK, said: “We know smaller growers are under real pressure – from a dry spring to rising input costs – and we want to do what we can to help.

"These shorter payment terms are a small, practical step to give them quicker access to cash and a bit more flexibility as the season progresses.”
The initiative forms part of Aldi’s broader pledge to build long-term, fair relationships with British growers.
Aldi also recently reaffirmed its commitment to food safety and animal welfare, pledging to uphold its standards even if current regulations are relaxed under future international trade deals.
