Asda Agrees £250m Ten-Year Salad Supply Deal With Lancashire Grower

Asda has agreed a ten-year deal worth approximately £250 million with Len Wright Salads, extending a supplier relationship that has lasted more than 35 years.

The agreement, valued at around £25 million a year through to 2036, is intended to secure long-term supply for the retailer while giving the Lancashire business greater confidence to invest in British growing, staff, facilities and technology. The £250 million is the stated value of the supply agreement over its lifetime.

Family-owned Len Wright Salads has grown salads since the 1960s. It supplies the majority of Asda’s own-label prepared bagged salads, with 37 million bags distributed to the retailer’s stores each year from a dedicated facility. The business also supplies selected stir-fry vegetable lines.

Jenny Cannon, Asda’s Senior Director for Produce, said the deal reflected a shared commitment to British produce and would give suppliers “the confidence to invest for the future”. She said long-term partnerships could help build resilience across Asda’s supply chain.

Ian Torley, Director at Len Wright Salads, described the agreement as recognition of the trust built between the two businesses. He said it would allow the grower to continue investing in “British growing, our people, facilities and technology”.

Asda also pointed to its wider sourcing programme. It said it completed the rollout of LEAF Marque certification across all its UK fresh produce growers in 2024, covering more than 500 farms.
