Asda Rolls Out ‘Summer Must-Have’ Yellow Watermelon Snack Pack

Asda has introduced a fun fresh-cut fruit variety to its summer snacking range, anticipating high shopper appeal for its naturally sweet-tasting and striking golden yellow watermelon slices.

The retailer expects consumers to “go wild” for its new 300g ready-to-eat pack of 'Exceptional Yellow Watermelon Fans’, and is confident the fruit will become this summer’s must-have snack, reports The Grocer. 

The naturally-occurring variety reportedly tastes sweeter and milder than traditional red watermelon, with Asda giving the fruit the on-pack description of “deliciously crisp with a subtle honey-like flavour”. 

According to Asda, the Exceptional Yellow Watermelon Fans pack presents customers with a “colourful twist” on account of its visually attractive colour, juicy sweet flavour, and crisp texture.

“With summer in full swing, we’re always looking for exciting ways to bring seasonal inspiration to our customers,” an Asda spokesperson told The Grocer. 

“Our new Yellow Watermelon Fans offers a fun twist on a classic summer favourite, combining a naturally sweet, refreshing taste with a striking golden colour.

“As a naturally occurring variety with a history stretching back thousands of years, they’re a great way for customers to discover something a little different while enjoying one of summer’s most-loved fruits, we think shoppers will love this colourful new addition to our produce range.”

Launched on 29 June, Asda’s Exceptional Yellow Watermelon Fans is available both in stores and online for £2.25 a pack.
