The British Leek Growers Association has launched a promotional campaign to encourage shoppers to make more of British leeks during the 2026/27 season, which runs through to May 2027.

Bringing together leading UK growers and seed companies, the initiative centres on five themes: consumer value, health, convenience, enjoyment and discovery.

Practical cooking ideas and ways to reduce food waste will feature alongside nutritional messaging, including information about leeks’ fibre content and prebiotic properties.

Award-winning cookbook author Pip Payne and Instagram food influencer Emily Bonner will contribute creative recipes through social media partnerships, helping demonstrate how leeks can be used in affordable, healthy meals.

The activity will be supported by a media programme targeting national, regional, consumer and news publications to raise awareness of the vegetable’s versatility and seasonal appeal.

Association chairman Tim Casey said continuing cost-of-living pressures made it important to show consumers that healthy meals using seasonal British produce could still be prepared on a budget.

He said the campaign would highlight leeks’ health benefits while demonstrating their role in economical, straightforward and tasty dishes.
