Cornwall-based Varfell Farms, the world’s largest daffodil grower, has been awarded the Supermarket Floral and Plant Supplier of the Year accolade at the 2025 FPC Fresh Awards.

With roots dating back to 1885, Varfell Farms — located near Penzance — processes over 500 million hand-picked daffodil stems annually, in addition to handling 10,000 tonnes of bulbs and supplying around two million stems of summer flowers each year.
The FPC Fresh Awards recognise excellence across the UK fresh produce sector, celebrating innovation, operational quality, and partnerships within the supermarket supply chain.
Judges applauded Varfell Farms for combining resilience, innovation and sustainability in its operations. They particularly highlighted the company’s willingness to adapt and collaborate, calling Varfell a “shining example of a dependable partner for floral supermarket operators.”
Technologically, Varfell Farms deploys a sophisticated agritech toolkit, including optical graders, GPS, drones, satellite-field monitoring, weather stations, radar and LiDAR systems, to drive efficiencies across cultivation and supply.
One standout initiative is their £3 Big Bunch concept, a market-first offering designed to deliver value for both retailers and consumers. Moreover, their dedicated vase-life varietal development facility, which monitors shelf life in real time, supports consistent product quality.
Varfell Farms operates under the umbrella of the Greosn Group, a strategic investor in leading fresh produce brands committed to innovation, sustainability and supply security.
This award caps off what has been a strong year for the Cornish grower, reinforcing its position not only as a national leader in floriculture but also as a benchmark for sustainable, future-forward supply in the UK retail market.
