DP World has secured a double victory at the Multimodal Awards 2026 in Birmingham, with the company named Port Company of the Year for the fourth consecutive year and its subsidiary, Community Network Services (CNS), winning Exhibitor of the Year.

The awards recognise a landmark period for DP World’s UK port operations, with the company handling a combined five million TEU at London Gateway and Southampton last year, within a national market totalling nine million TEU.

London Gateway alone handled more than three million TEU, setting a new record and increasing volumes by more than 50% from 2024. The growth followed the launch of full operations at the £350 million all-electric fourth berth, keeping the port on track to become the UK’s largest throughput container port by the end of the decade.

DP World’s £1 billion expansion of London Gateway remains a major ongoing construction project. It will add two new all-electric berths and a second rail terminal to the Thames logistics hub. The new rail terminal is already partially operational, increasing rail freight capacity, while the port’s fifth berth is due to be completed in 2027.

Southampton also continued to play a significant role in the UK’s trading infrastructure, handling more than two million TEU in 2025. The recent arrival of two of Europe’s largest quay cranes, with a further two expected later this year, forms part of a £60 million investment designed to future-proof operations in the Solent.

Kris Adams, DP World CEO UK Ports & Terminals, said: “We are incredibly proud to receive this recognition at the Multimodal Awards for a fourth consecutive year, which is testament to the hard work and dedication of our teams at London Gateway and Southampton. They continue to deliver an outstanding service for our customers, while we work to make major investments at both ports to future-proof operations for decades to come.”

CNS, a DP World company and digital trade solutions provider, was named Exhibitor of the Year in recognition of its exhibition presence, customer engagement and support for the logistics and international trade community. The award comes as CNS celebrates 40 years of operating in the UK.

Matthew Bradley, Managing Director at CNS, said: “We're delighted to receive the 'Exhibitor of the Year' award as we mark our 40th year in the UK. This recognition reflects the dedication of our team and the strong partnerships we've built across the industry.

“Multimodal is an important opportunity to connect with customers and partners, showcase our digital trade solutions and demonstrate our commitment to supporting the future of UK trade. We look forward to continuing to deliver the innovative solutions our customers rely on.”

DP World operates across more than 75 countries and enables more than 9% of global containerised trade. Through its integrated ports, logistics and transport network, the company says it is helping customers accelerate supply chain decarbonisation while maintaining efficient and resilient trade flows worldwide.
