One of the most recognisable advocates for the UK’s hospitality sector, Kate Nicholls OBE, has been appointed Chair of UKHospitality, ushering in a new chapter for the organisation she has led with distinction for over a decade.

Nicholls, who has served as Chief Executive of UKHospitality since its formation in 2018, will now step into a strategic, non-executive role as Chair. The move is part of a governance evolution aimed at strengthening the trade body’s voice and influence at a time when the hospitality sector continues to navigate post-pandemic recovery, rising costs, and workforce challenges.
Nicholls commented: “It’s an honour to take up the role of Chair and continue championing this wonderful and vitally important sector. Hospitality has been through some of its toughest years recently, but I’m proud of the work we’ve done to ensure it has a strong, united voice in government and the media.”
The appointment follows a structural review and coincides with the recruitment of a new Chief Executive to lead UKHospitality operationally. Nicholls’ new role will focus on high-level advocacy, policy leadership and stakeholder engagement, reinforcing her long-standing mission to position hospitality as a cornerstone of the UK economy.
“Kate has been the tireless voice of our industry,” said Steve Richards, CEO of Parkdean Resorts and a UKHospitality board member. “This move ensures her insight and leadership remain front and centre as the sector faces the next wave of challenges.”
UKHospitality represents over 740 member companies operating more than 100,000 venues across the country. As Chair, Nicholls will continue to champion industry resilience, skills development and regulatory reform – key concerns also shared by the UK’s fresh produce and foodservice supply chains.
