Marks & Spencer is preparing to launch its largest-ever dedicated Foodhall this summer, bringing a fresh market-style layout stocked with produce from M&S Select Farm Partners, and marking a strengthening of the retailer’s commitment to sourcing high-quality, locally produced food.

Located at a former Homebase site close to Godalming town centre, the brand-new store will span 22,000 sq ft – the biggest M&S Foodhall so far.

The branch will feature the retailer’s latest fresh-market style merchandising offering a wide selection of fresh, seasonal produce from its Select Farm Partners, in addition to a dedicated flower and plant range, an in-store bakery, and hot food counters.

In its Godalming proposal plans, the company said the new M&S Food store will further strengthen M&S’s commitment to local sourcing, bringing high-quality, locally produced food straight to customer's shelves.

“M&S is proud to support British farming through long-standing relationships with over 9,500 Select Farm partners across the UK, including almost 200 farms based in the South East,” the retailer said.

M&S has suggested that the new Foodhall will carry a product range distinct from its current offer in Godalming town, including hot food counters and freshly prepared food on the go.

“Customers can look forward to trusted value from our Remarksable Value and Bigger Pack Better Value ranges, fresh produce from our Select Farm partners – 200 of which are based in the South East – and the latest new product innovations,” revealed M&S regional manager Carl Flannagan.

Opening the biggest Foodhall to date underscores the continued investment by M&S in expanding its food estate with larger, more accessible sites.

The new store is expected to create up to 80 jobs across a breadth of retail position, with recruitment reportedly underway already.

It will also mark M&S’s second new Foodhall in Surrey this year, following the launch of its Farnham store at the end of March.

The site will provide 175 parking spaces as well as access for pedestrians, cyclists, and public transport users.

The latest opening in Godalming forms part of M&S’s wider estate strategy, which has focused on securing prominent, accessible sites, and expanding its food footprint through larger stores.
