Morrisons Extends Support to Fruit & Veg Growers with New 5% Discount for Farmers

Morrisons has unveiled a new initiative to support its farmers, offering them a 5% discount in stores and online. This gesture of appreciation is aimed at strengthening relationships with those who put fresh produce on our tables.

The discount will be extended to all of Morrisons' fruit and veg growers, as well as livestock suppliers, egg farmers; and dairy farmers with Morrisons contracts. This expansion highlights Morrisons' commitment to British agriculture and follows their continued investment of £1.4 billion annually into UK farming.

"Fruit and veg growers are at the heart of everything we do – they are true heroes, ensuring that the freshest produce reaches our shelves every day," said Morrisons CEO Rami Baitiéh. "We stand shoulder to shoulder with British farmers, and our latest investment is just another way to show our unwavering support."

Baitiéh emphasised that, as the largest direct customer of British farming, Morrisons' £1.4bn yearly investment underscores its commitment to building long-term, sustainable partnerships. This includes guaranteed contracts, cashflow schemes, and practical support to help farmers grow and succeed.

Morrisons' 'For Farmers' range, featuring products like milk, eggs, cheese, and cream, also allows customers to give back to the people behind their food. To date, this range has raised over £25 million for British farmers.

The company has also been proactive in offering additional cashflow support through its manufacturing arm, Myton Food Group, funding £11 million worth of cattle to help livestock farmers manage budgets and grow their businesses.

In a further demonstration of its dedication, Morrisons has created a Farmers' Council, giving growers and other suppliers a direct line to senior management. The council, which will meet with the Morrisons CEO and board twice a year, is designed to ensure that farmers’ voices are heard and that Morrisons remains a strong partner for British farming. The next meeting is set for December, at Morrisons' head office, as the festive season approaches.
