Morrisons has launched a new international sourcing division as it seeks to expand its overseas revenues and grow the customer base of its manufacturing operation.

According to The Grocer, the new business, named Myton International, will offer sourcing, product development and manufacturing services to retailers and food brands in markets outside the UK.

The division forms part of Myton Food Group, Morrisons’ vertically integrated food manufacturing business, which operates sites across the UK and produces and packs products including fresh produce, flowers, meat, fish, eggs and baked goods.

Myton International said its aim was to simplify global sourcing by providing customers with access to manufacturing specialists, product innovation and competitive pricing, while maintaining quality standards.

The business will source, develop and deliver products for customers, as well as partnering with international brands seeking to manufacture goods in the UK.

Its stated mission is to become the “most trusted partner in global product sourcing”, delivering high-quality products at pace.

The launch comes as Morrisons looks to broaden Myton Food Group’s customer base beyond its own supermarket estate by securing additional retail, foodservice and food manufacturing business in the UK and overseas.

Myton already supplies customers other than Morrisons and has been working to expand that side of its operation. The new international division represents a further step in the retailer’s efforts to generate additional revenue from its extensive food sourcing and manufacturing capabilities.

The Grocer reported that Myton International also forms part of a wider drive to increase the number of retailers supplied by Morrisons.
