Seeds of Change: Hessing and Taylor Farms Forge a Landmark Transatlantic Partnership

Two major fresh produce companies are poised to strengthen their partnership through a new agreement. Taylor Farms, one of North America’s most prominent fresh produce businesses, has made an investment in Hessing, a European supplier of fresh fruits and vegetables. While Taylor Farms confirmed the deal in a press release, it did not disclose the amount invested.

Hessing will remain a family-run enterprise and retain its majority stake. The company, founded in 1968, has become a significant player in Europe’s fresh produce sector, operating from its headquarters in the Netherlands and supplying customers in Germany, Belgium, Denmark, and the Netherlands. Recently, Hessing opened a modern fruit processing centre in Schwalmtal, Germany, and also manages a state-of-the-art vegetable production facility at Greenport Venlo in the Netherlands.

According to the press release, this enhanced partnership is expected to support Hessing’s continued expansion and drive further innovation.

“We are excited to work with Hessing as we enter into this strategic partnership,” said Bruce Taylor, chairman and CEO of Taylor Farms. “By combining our respective knowledge and expertise, we can accelerate the development of fresh food innovations and capitalise on new opportunities in Europe together. Our mutual commitment to innovation aligns with our goal of creating a positive impact across the entire supply chain.”

“The collaboration with Taylor Farms is an important step for our company,” commented Frank Hessing, CEO of Hessing. “In our rapidly changing market, innovation and automation are essential for growth. With the expertise of Taylor Farms, we can confidently build towards a healthy and sustainable future while expanding our reach. Together, we can better support our customers in their demand for healthy, fresh products.”
