Tanzania has announced the launch of a new fresh fruit, vegetable, and flower trade show that will take place annually in Arusha. The event, named Horti Logistica Africa, is organised by the Tanzania Horticultural Association (TAHA) in partnership with the government.

Horti Logistica Africa is planned as a continental professional trade fair focused on the fresh fruit and vegetable supply chain. It is scheduled to debut in June 2026 and will be held every November thereafter. The event is modeled after established global trade fairs such as Fruit Logistica in Berlin, Macfrut in Rimini, and Fruit Attraction in Spain.

The organisers expect the trade fair to bring together horticultural growers, exporters, technology suppliers, breeders, financial institutions, buyers, and other service providers. The platform is designed to facilitate business connections, technology exposure, and discussions on production and supply chain systems.

During the launch event in Dar es Salaam, held as part of the Horticulture Business and Investment Summit 2025 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Gerald Mweli, stated, "Tanzania would be the first country in Africa to host this kind of event. And the government is fully committed to supporting TAHA to realize this great idea."

TAHA CEO Dr Jacqueline Mkindi said, "We are going to bring the World to Arusha, Tanzania through the Horti Logistica Africa." She noted that not all African growers and exporters can attend international exhibitions due to logistics and visa barriers, and that hosting an African-based event would create an alternative platform for engagement. "Horti-Logistica Africa will serve as the platform for bringing international buyers and retail chains to the source of the supply chain and foster mutual collaboration for a streamlined market access," she said.

Mkindi added that the event is intended to bring the horticultural supply chain together under one venue, including producers, buyers, researchers, policymakers, and industry service providers.

The organisers expect the show to cover the full fresh produce industry value chain. Planned features include business-to-business meetings between African stakeholders and international buyers, displays of technologies and products for the fruit and vegetable sector, and knowledge-sharing sessions through conferences and workshops. The programme also includes discussions related to reducing post-harvest losses and attracting investment and partnerships within the horticulture sector.
