FSI Empowers Small-Scale Growers with 100% Sustainability Certification

In a ground-breaking move, the Floriculture Sustainability Initiative (FSI) has announced a new programme to enable small-scale growers to achieve 100% sustainability certification.

This initiative, unveiled on 30 May, aims to redefine the revenue benchmarks for small-scale growers in the Global North. A special project group, working closely with various stakeholders, has developed this framework to provide clarity and support to these growers, ensuring they meet the rigorous sustainability standards set by FSI.

This initiative underscores FSI's commitment to fostering sustainable practices in floriculture, promoting environmental stewardship, and ensuring economic viability for small-scale growers. By setting clear guidelines and offering support, FSI aims to enhance the overall sustainability of the floriculture industry, ensuring that even the smallest players can contribute to a greener future.

The FSI’s new certification programme includes comprehensive support mechanisms, such as training sessions, resource allocation, and continuous monitoring, ensuring growers can seamlessly transition to sustainable practices.

This development is part of FSI’s broader strategy to integrate more growers into its sustainability framework, reflecting a significant step towards achieving global sustainability goals in the sector. Moreover, this initiative will likely set a precedent for other agricultural sectors, highlighting the importance of inclusive and sustainable growth practices.
